The Health and Social Care Bill: House of Lords Amendments on 23 February included a proposal by Baroness Blackwell for a member of Healthwatch England to be designated as the Commissioner for Older People in England.
Healthwatch England is the national body that will enable the collective views of people who use health and social care services to influence national policy, advice and guidance.
The role of the proposed commissioner will be to consult with and gather opinions of older people, and to represent those opinions.
