Erosh has produced guidance to help increase awareness of the steps that can be taken to reduce abuse and neglect of older vulnerable people.
Erosh has produced good practice guidance, in partnership with our long-standing member Imogen Parry who provides specialist safeguarding adults training to housing staff, to help members.
Now available on our Policy & Practice Portal under the Good Practice section, the guidance helps members understand the importance of recognising the risks and signs of abuse and to respond effectively to instances of abuse.
Some adults may be in vulnerable circumstances and need protecting from the actions or inactions of others. There has been growing evidence and concern about the nature and extent of abuse of older and vulnerable people.
Risk of abuse also increases with age, isolation, lack of social networks, cognitive loss, mental health needs, and/or physical frailty.
Safeguards against poor practice harm and abuse therefore needs to be an integral part of housing related support whilst continuing to support individuals to maintain control over their own lives and make informed choices.
Access the good practice guidance on the Policy & Practice Portal.
