New network launched

Members inSouth Walesare launching a new network to help providers share good practice and tackle issues in the sector.

TheSouth Walesnetwork was launched on Monday, July 16 with an event held at RCT Homes in Pontypridd.

Representatives from organisations including RCT Homes, Coastal Housing, Swansea City Council, Merthyr Valleys Homes, Carmarthen Council and Merlin Homes, attended the meeting.

Guest speakers included erosh’s director of policy Rebecca Mollart, who presented erosh’s new member services including the online policy and good practice resources aimed at supporting frontline staff to deal with the challenges facing the sector, and Nicola Evans from Cymorth Cymru gave a presentation on the role and work of Cymorth Cymru. Other key issues discussed included remodelling of sheltered housing, sheltered tenants surveys, mobility scooter storage and Fire Risk Assessments.

Rebecca Mollart said: “This event illustrated what erosh is all about. The organisation provides an opportunity for providers with common challenges to come together and share solutions and good practice. There are very few networks which focus solely on older people’s housing from a very practical perspective illustrated by the interest shown at this first event of many.”

At the next regional meeting on October 9, Sarah Rochira, the older people’s commissioner forWales, will be guest speaker.

Our local networks give members the opportunity to be more actively involved at a local level, and come together regularly to share good practice, working together to resolve issues and to hear guest speakers from the sector.

These free events are open to non-members too so people can experience first-hand the benefits of joining Erosh.
