Do you know someone who would benefit from a telephone befriending service? Age UK’s ‘Call in Time’ service offers telephone support to those over 60 who may otherwise feel lonely or isolated.
AgeUK’s trained volunteers can offer a weekly ‘friendship call’ or several short ‘good day’ calls during the week at agreed times. The service is not national so in some areas Age UK will work in partnership with existing local befriending services. ‘Call in Time’ may be of particular benefit to older people who have recently suffered a bereavement or returned home from hospital and need extra support and reassurance.
Members can refer older people using this form. AgeUKrequests the form is filled out as fully as possible so the older person being referred doesn’t have to share potentially sensitive details with more than one person. The service works best if older people expect contact from a ‘Call in Time’ operator and share their preferred times for receiving calls.
